Taj Babee

Me standing in the courtyard next to the Taj.

The darn thing is soo big!

Myself, Kevin and Jeff on the ride back to the hotel.

Just got back from a quick Trip to the Taj Mahal last week. It was amazing ...

There are no direct flights into the city where the Taj is located so Kevin, Jeff and I had to fly to Delhi and then hire a driver to take us on the 5 hour highway route to the Taj.

The origin and construction of the Taj is actually quite interesting. Spefically that it was built out of love by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz, who died [allegedly] bearing the Shah their 13th child. Even more interesting is that there are a couple other lesser Taj's built near the giant White one you see in these pics. They were built for the Shah's other wives and are considerably smaller and more ghettoe (think matchbox car to a fullsize Ferrari). Our guide tells us that it was because they were crappy in bed and that they did not bear 13 children like Mumtaz did. Talk about harsh ...

The place is clearly historical, a good place to do movies though.
